ニューヨークで開かれているミートアップ。ハードウェアメーカーのスタートアップたちに、発表の場を提供している。

Alley NYC というコワーキングスペースで開かれ、100人以上の人が集まり、投票なども行うらしい。面白そうだ。

ちなみに過去のイベントに参加したスタートアップは、こちらで見ることができる。イベントへの参加者も回を重ねるごとに、徐々に増えているように見える。

KORGのビンテージなアナログシンセサイザーである Polysix に、Arduino を使ってアフタータッチとポルタメントを実装。

キーボードを取り替えて、さらにキースキャナを追加。MIDIで出力されるキーボードの信号をArduino Mega で変換し、もともと Polysix でキーアサインをしているIntel 8049 へと送っているらしい。ピッチコントロールはArduinoにDAC を接続してアナログに変換している。すごい執念。

数多くある Arduino の種類から、どのマシンを買うべきか、教えてくれるガイド。

どれを使うかは当然、用途次第だが、ドキュメントやサンプルの豊富さやコンパチの面でも、UNO が推奨されている。

Arduino にタッチスクリーンの液晶シールドを接続して、計算機に仕立て上げた。

液晶は adafruit のもので、240x320 ピクセルの解像度を持つ。筆圧を検知できるとあるので、感圧式かもしれない。価格は $59。安くない。

シールドなので、Arduino と一体化できる。タクトスイッチよりもリッチな、ユーザインターフェースとして使えそう。

卵に絵を書くことができるというマシン「EggBot」。通常はパソコンと接続して操作するが、Raspberry Pi を使うことにより、EggBot 単体で動作させる（ように見える）というハック。

EggBot 自体はキットとして販売されており、evilmadscience.com で$199～から購入できるようだ。本体自体はハンダ不要で簡単に組み立てられるらしい。これは面白そう。

EggBot に Raspberry Pi を組み込む方法は、How to Embed a Raspberry Pi into your eggbotにある。Raspberry Pi でPCレスにしようとも結局ディスプレイは必要なので、ノートPCを使う場合と比べてコンパクトになるのかどうか疑問は残る…

Android@Home に関しては、OSの最新Ver.にヒントが発掘された。最近何かと注目を集めつつある Home Automation の分野で、久々に姿を表す可能性が高いようだ。これは少し注目。

Sony もHead Mounted Display の特許を出願してた。

記事でも述べられているが、Google のGlass とは趣向が異なるものの、実際に製品を出しているのでHMD関連特許が出ていても不思議はない。どのように使われるのかコンテンツが明確になっていないが、情報機器であれば優劣を決める価値はデバイスだけではない。Google のクラウドの優位性は大きい。
